“I read this book in less than 24 hours and could have had it finished sooner but I made myself “sit in the ick” and really take in. Feelings of shock, sickness, anger, and complete sadness ran through me as I turned each page. The love that Chad had for Jessi and his constant determination to be there for her brought a whole new set of feelings. I kept thinking that in their deepest valley, they were truly living out their wedding vows, something that isn’t always the popular path these days.
This story was one that needed to be shared and it is about so much more than the assault. It’s about a survivors walk through trauma, and her ability to come out on the other side with the strength and desire to help others.”

“You asked if we would recommend this book to others and I absolutely will and would. I learned so much about how secondary victims are impacted and how better to be there for friends dealing with trauma, whether that trauma is a sexual assault or a loss in life.”

“Whoa! What a powerful story. It is a roller coaster of emotions. Very well done and fully encompassing the full story…but others story too. This is an honest story, it was hard to put down. This could be very helpful for others.”

““I still feel like if you’ve never been there, you don’t get to have an opinion how someone should handle it.” Very powerful, very true. Only the victim knows how to handle it, I imagine, and only on their terms. So many learning opportunities in there. Lessons that can be used in not just helping victims of sexual assault, but also every everyday situations.”

“This is a must read. Powerful truth of what happened to Jessi and her family. She is remarkable in telling the truth of how the event shaped her and her family forever will remain with me.”

“I can’t tell you how impressed I am by the way Jessi shared her story and how it will help so many survivors navigate their own stories. It’s raw and brave and written in a way that pulls you right in immediately. And it’s a hard read, because of the assault obviously but more because of your pain. She shares it in a way that makes the reader feel so included in her struggles, her healing, her family, the conflict and hurts, and in coming along with her and Chad as she navigate something someone should never have had to navigate, something that should never happen to anyone. She is such a survivor, in the best ways.”

“I shed some tears, sat and reflected, punched the air, and nodded along like yasss girl. The chapters were short and so easy to follow. It tracks so well because the reader is getting super invested in this piece from a particular perspective, then you’re quickly moved to the next. You are thinking gosh this is even better. Just super excellently done with thinking through the flow.”
